**DOG LICENSING PERIOD BEGINS JANUARY 1, 2017**
The license period applicable to licenses for dogs required to be obtained under G.L.c.140 by an owner or keeper of a dog shall be the time in a year between January 1st and the following December 31st, both dates inclusive. Dog licenses will become available in December at the Middleborough Town Clerk's Office. The registration period is 1/1/2017 through 3/31/2017.
In order to license your dog(s), you will need to provide the following:
1. A copy of a valid rabies certificate and certificate of spaying/neutering.
2a. A fee of $15.00 per dog if your dog has not been spayed or neutered.
2b. A fee of $10.00 per dog for a spayed or neutered dog.
A reminder to license your dog has been included on the 2016 Annual Town Census form. Residents may complete the form and submit payment through the mail, stop by the Town Clerk’s Office (Mon- Fri from 8:45 am to 5:00 pm) or purchase the dog license(s) on-line provided the dog has been licensed in the Town of Middleborough before at (http://www.middleborough.com/clerk/index.html).
As a reminder, all dogs must be registered by 3/31/2016. Dogs licensed after that date will be assessed a late fee of $10.00. The late fee shall be in addition to the license fee referenced above.
- ON-LINE PAYMENTS: The Town Clerk's Office is now offering residents on-line payments. Please select the "On-Line Payment Center" link on left side of this page to enter our Unipay Gold program to make an on-line transaction.
- CREDIT CARDS ACCEPTED: The Town Clerk's office is now accepting credit card payments at our Clerk's Counter. We are currently accepting MasterCard, Discover and Visa.
- OFFICIAL MEETING POSTINGS - TOWN WEBSITE: The official meeting postings for public bodies is the Town of Middleborough's web site (www.middleborough.com). Our municipal web site fulfills the meeting notice requirements of the Open Meeting Law. As an added convenience, our Information Technology Department has configured a "Scrolling Calendar" computer monitor located in the upper window of the Town Clerk's Office at 20 Centre Street including dates and times of upcoming meetings. The scrolling calendar is not the official meeting posting. Original copies of meeting postings will be maintained in a binder in the Town Clerk's Office available for public view during office hours.
The services provided by the Town Clerk’s Office include:
Issuing of certified copies of vital records, including correction of past records
Issuing of voter registration cards
Zoning by-laws & maps
Filing of Petitions for Planning, Zoning and W.R.P.D.
Maintaining road acceptances
Maintaining General Law acceptances
Issue the following licenses:
Automatic Amusement Devices, Common Victualler, Motorcross, Raffle Permits, Taxis, Pawnbrokers, Second Hand Articles, Underground Storage of Flammables, Liquor Licenses, Live Entertainment, Sunday Package Store Opening, Marriage
The Town Clerk is also the Burial Agent for the issuing of burial permits; Parking Clerk for the receipt of parking fines.
This office also provides notary services to the public.
