Department Description:
The Council on Aging provides information, services, programs and activities for elders, caregivers and the community. These include a Daily Luncheon Program (M-F), Meals on Wheels, an Adult Supportive Day Program, Transportation and a full range of activities.

The Outreach Department offers information and referral, home visits and assessments, reassurance calls, and support groups.

The Activity Department offers daily choices for recreation including dancing, exercise, crafts, cards and pool as well as monthly seasonal celebrations. It also offers quarterly trips to interesting places for a reasonable price.

Adult Supportive Day Program offers a “home away from home” for those who can benefit from being in a safe, supportive environment to be with friends and socialize and benefit from a balanced nutrition program.

Our transportation is provided through our GATRA vans for 3 options--a curb-to-curb service, a fixed downtown-flag down route and a route to Taunton 3 days per week. The Vans provide trips to the supermarkets 2 days a week.

Our nutrition program serves a full hot lunch Monday through Friday for a $4.00 donation in addition to Meals on Wheels served to the homebound. The only restriction for age is for Dial-a-ride transportation which provides for those who are disabled or over 60 and for the Meals on Wheels Program for those 60 and over and are homebound, verified by a physician’s note.
